The topic is the terrorist attacks in Paris and Kenya
The main idea for heading one is that the article spread over 7 months later after the attacks and their was no sadness or support like we gave to Paris.
The main idea for head two is that people choose what to mention in the media or news. Some people think that it's racism.
The main idea for heading three is that people may not feel so familiar with Kenya and Beirut because Paris is a common place for Americans to visit and shoot movie scenes in that place.
The main idea for head four is that we should not ignore other places, and we should treat them equally.

Author's POV + Purpose
The author's POV is that he thinks that it isn't fair how we paid more attention to Paris than Kenya.
"For example, the city of Beirut, Lebanon, was attacked the day before Paris was attacked. It was hit by the same violant group, Islamic State. Also known as ISIS, the group wants to start its own country under Islamic Law and has taken over parts of Syria and Iraq. Hardly anyone mentioned the Beirut attack on Facebook or Twitter." Another example is "The problem is complicated. It certainly has something to do with which stories are covered by the news."
I agree with the author, because I also don't think it's fair how the news gets to choose Paris over Kenya, everybody should be treated equally whether we know who they are or not.
The author's purpose is that he is trying to inform us about how we didn't treat both attacks equally.
"It does not matter that we do not have vacation photos taken in Keny or Beirut. We do not get to ignore the horrible killings in those places."
